Reviewing Our Idea:

Today, Kieran and I decided to look over our idea in more detail. Together, with the help of our teacher, we picked out problems that clearly stuck out. Here are a few.

Genre and narrative:

We talked about what we disliked in the narrative. While the idea was good, it was too detailed for a 2 minute opening sequence. So, we decided to change our narrative to show a girl plagiarising. Because of the huge change in narrative it meant we had a huge genre shift from the horror sub-genre to a sub-genre of teenage drama. This also means we are going to need some new techniques to add tension and a dramatic build up. We decided on having close ups and quick cuts swell as a cross cut to build up tension.

The Nightmare Sequence:

We decided the nightmare sequence was too cheese and slightly over the top. We decided to replace this sequence with a cross cut. We believe this cross c
ut will be very effective as it shows two different events happening at the same time. If this is done correctly our opening sequence will be very effective.

Film Name:

Since our film no longer revolves around a kidnap, we can no longer call it "Abducted" or else it may give our audience ideas of the narrative despite the narrative no longer being about kidnapping. So, we decided to rename our film "Cheat". This is effective as it is short and snappy. It also hints at the narrative and what the film is about.

Sound:

While watching our first cut, we noticed that the sound defiantly did not fit with our sub-genre. The music was way too happy for a film that is meant to have tense undertones. So, Kieran and I are going to look for a entirely new song to put with our opening sequence.
