Task 5: Director Case Study.

Introduction To John Hughes:

John Hughes' Biography Can Be Found Here:

Introduction to Greg Mottola:

What have I learnt?
From this research i have learnt a lot about directors. I have learnt that directors had a different role to producers in which directors are more involved in controlling actors and the set of the film. John Hughes has also inspired me to create a fourth wall break. I personally think this is really effective and entertaining. I also think that using well known and remember songs for films is very important. Sound can trigger memories and be a linked to a film. If i was a director I would want to create/use a memorable song so people can hear the song and link it to my film. Lastly, I have learnt that many narratives are repetitive. However, this is because most movie narratives follow Todorov's equilibrium. In a coming-of-age film, the main protagonist often ends up in trouble to to rebelling against a certain rule. This is what moves the plot along. I have learnt without a equilibrium break there is no reason for the film to happen.
