- Today in Media we started to plan for our next creative task: Remake an coming-of-age film opening. My group first had planned to start filming in this lesson since we had a double lesson. We initially planned to film a scene from Ferris Bueller where the teacher is calling out the register. We planned to do this by having our teacher as the teacher and the four people in my group (including me) being the students. However, we changed our mind and have decided to do mean girls. Right away we decided to film... But, we soon realised this was a terrible idea as none of us knew how the film started. So, we headed back to the classroom and started to plan. We watched the opening to the film and made notes. I designed a storyboard, Immy wrote down all the speech and Kieran and Mona made notes on props and ideas of how we could film the opening scene. Despite our enthusiasm for making this film opening, we quickly discovered our first problem. One of the scenes in the opening sequence shows the main protagonist in Africa. This was a major problem as we weren't going to consider flying to Africa to film a scene. So, Kieran suggested using a green screen. This was a great idea because we can test our skills at working with advanced movie techniques such as using a green screen and we can learn from our experience. We have a green screen readily available and I am able to edit green screen footage. We are now completely prepared to start filming in our next lesson.
